Music Tuesday #052: Summer break

Show me the books your read and the music you listen to and I will know who you are. I was the kid who related to the Boss while growing up.  Music and books made me understand the world.  This music showed me that we're all looking for the same things in life.  Various albums by Bruce Springsteen have been meaningful to me as I progressed into adulthood. Songs I would like, but not understand, until I had life experience to relate to them. Two examples, one which I very much could relate to in my teens and the second which took me until a decade after that to really appreciate the song.   These songs are stories, we are fundamentally story telling mammal.  And stories need to relate to your life and experiences to make sense.  Do these make sense to you? Music Tuesday #051: Interesting Interpretations

Can covers be better than the original?  I'm not sure, but here are some that come to mind.  First on, An Pierle's cover of  the 1979 song 'Are Friends Electric?' by Gary Numan (Tubeway Army).  A song about a robot performing services for men.  This was a long time before Westworld! This is lesson for all modern music: sparse sound can be more powerful then a wall of noise.  Especially with a unique voice like An Pierle has. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MMKjxeHwyic Second, Primus covers 'Making plans for Nigel'  by XTC of which I have always found the original to be very annoying.  Primus makes it way better.  But hey, that's mu inner Primus fan speaking off course. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xzFgRPh6lVo

Music Tuesday #050: Stoner Sautrus

I like the rock sound of the 60s and 70s.  And when I come across music that combines those sounds with more current metal or alternative styles I will stop and listen.  This goes for Sautrus which I found lurking in my YouTube playlist called 'music to nip from now and then' (to nip is a play on words which Dutch speakers will get). I am not convinced that the voice of the lead singer is the group's strong point, but all in all I enjoyed this song from the 2017 concept album 'Anthony Hill'.
