Music Tuesday #193: Would you believe it?

I am almost embarrassed about this week's band just because the band name features "goats" again.  It just so happens that I came across good music after checking out Goat a couple of weeks ago.  Anyway, I discovered the Mountain Goats were played once in the US, France, the Netherlands and Belgium last week.  After this post they will see their Spotify revenue go up tremendously.  Just kidding, there are a maximum of 2400 people reading this blog regularly.  I don't think I will make or break bands by featuring them here. I would love a coffee while typing this, would you be willing to gift me a coffee now and then while I sift through bucketloads of songs every week? the Mountain Goats - The Slow Parts on Death Metal Albums https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9N0RENXc6vg

Music Tuesday #192: What's the deal with goats recently?

Goat Girl is a band hailing from London who played just around the corner from where I live over the weekend.  They played with Goat in the same lineup, rather a lot of Goat for one evening if you ask me.  Goat got featured a couple of weeks ago on the blog, check them out if you haven't already. Back to Goat Girl.  This post-apocalyptic song with dreamy angel voices urging you to escape our dying world.  It's either that or escaping the sight of a construction worker bending down a tad too far for comfort. Music Tuesday #191: Welcome to hell

Sadly the state of the world today is so that we still need songs like this.  From the fantastic Jamaican vocalist Horace Andy comes this lament for the world.  A genuine song in a dub livery.  Make sure you listen on a system that can render the great bass lines with a force you can feel.  Check out his Midnight Rocker album (2022) which was an instant favorite when I played it at home on a gray weekend morning. Music Tuesday #190: coffeeshop discovery

Here I am, sitting in my local coffee shop on a cloudy Thursday in September.  Yes, that is how far up front I write these blog posts.  I can't handle the pressure I put myself in to write one post a week before Tuesday morning.  So I try to work ahead so I can skip a few weeks of writing every so often.  Also, new songs don't cross my path often. When they do I discover usually more than one song.  I keep a list songs to cover as a backup when inspiration doesn't come easily.  Now you know all my secrets. Back to the coffeeshop. I heard this song which pulled me from reading an article in the New Scientist on plants that might have a form of consciousness.  This song is from the 2012 album World Music by Goat.  With Goat you will experience psychedelic music with a touch of pop, interesting rhythms and riffs.  It has the hallmarks of great music: different yet recognizable, complex but still accessible. I believe this will make a great addition to my Spotify playlist.   Go

Music Tuesday #189: Funky bass

Folk festivals have evolved and that is the reason I discovered this Berlin band.  According to their website they deliver brass funk rap deluxe.  After playing this song a couple of times you will seek out their next gigs.  Best party music ever to get everyone on the dance floor.   Make a Move - Bassline https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TTuP0N8GDJM
