Music Tuesday #045: Body & Mind

This  week we're taking it a bit slower.  Alas we're still not into pop music so another band at the fringes of the music world.   There's a link with the Igorrr post but I can't be bothered to verify it myself right now.  Leave a comment if you know what it's about. Drama befalls us today, again with more opera style singing on top of electro/acoustic/heavy music which sometimes reminds me of Solstafir, especially their Otta album. Music Tuesday #044: Madness

There is a special place in my heart for those who defy the laws of tradition.  Igorrr is the non-conformist featured this week.  Take all Western music of the last couple of hundred years, throw it on a pile and burn it.  Take the pieces that weren't consumed in the raging flames and voila: this is where the wonderful world of Igorrr starts. You will probably not find it easy to listen to it.  Maybe that's the purpose.  The latest album is quite accessible (or am I getting so used to it?).  Listen and be merry, or feel deep despair...  I don't think you can't have no opinion when hearing this. Music Tuesday #043: Heavy covers

This one's a quick intermezzo.  Just got some random well-known covers performed by metal groups. Enjoy this week's retro music in a straight metal jacket!  Don't expect the Sound of Silence by Disturbed, that would have been too obvious! Music Tuesday #042: Theatrical Tuesday

I do have a penchant for bombastic, theatrical music.  If you add a splash of excitement, you get really wonderful contrasts, complex melodies and screaming guitars.  The operatic voice of    Zuberoa Aznárez  in Diabulus in Musica combined with the gutteral roar of Gorka Elso give me the sonic equivalent of a double espresso in the early morning at my local coffee shop. I just wonder if it is possible to play the drums that fast and precise... I expect some trickery... anyway it doesn't bother me. While looking for more of that I have stumbled on Unleash the Archers. I've bought a couple of albums which I have only given a couple of spins up to now, so they are not yet in my common playlist. By the way, this is no music where lyrics will blow you away, that's for another week.
