Music Tuesday #116: Bizarro series, episode 8: China Jon

Be careful when recording a song, the internet remembers...  This unknown record from 1982 got picked up a couple of years ago and used in a remix which was hot in the Italian dance scene for a while.  The good news is that, despite this record, Kurt Van Eeghem managed to become a well-known tv and radio presenter as well as a beloved intellectual in Flanders. Music Tuesday #115: Weltschmerz

The last (?) album by Fish takes from the untranslatable German concept of the melancholic feeling of a deep sadness about the imperfection of the world.  This is an exclusive feeling reserved for perfectionists I guess. Sometimes you need something to soothe your soul. The quality of music and the quality of sound on this recording is very high.  As with a lot of progressive music, you will need multiple listening sessions to experience all the different things going on at the same time.  There is satisfaction to be found in the process.   A hallmark of progressive music are the long songs.  This album fits in that tradition coming in at over 84 minutes for 10 songs. Music Tuesday #114: Pop this cherry

I bring you Southern Rock this week. This mix of southern boogie, blues and a touch of heaviness comes with bucket loads of gravel through the voice of singer and guitarist Chris Robertson. That moment 11 seconds into the song, when the bass line kicks in... guaranteed headbanger. Black Stone Cherry - Push Down & Turn https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2N5SHpjHTTM

Music Tuesday #113: Under Cover Episode 8 - Diane

This well-known song is actually a cover by Therapy.  The original song is by the (in)famous Hüsker Dü.  It is about a friend of the band, called Diane Edwards, who was murdered when she was only 19 years old.  The song is written from the standpoint of the murderer. Now you will always remember when you hear the version by Therapy on the radio or at a party.  Bit of a bummer isn't it? Hüsker Dü - Diane https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a1MpTnGyED8
