Music Tuesday #176: Success is a fleeting moment

This week marks the 4th year that this blog has been running.  Countless times I have almost given up, the stress of coming up with new songs and writing something about it is not a mere trifle. This week I was thinking about bands that missed their opportunity to become hugely successful, not that you must pursue this of course.  But sometimes bands disappear from the scene just before they will make it.  And that's a pity. The band I present to you split just when their breakthrough was imminent.  Maybe, in true punk style, they didn't want success?  I don't blame them.  Ultimately everyone should be allowed to make that choice.  Success is not a guarantee for happiness I guess. Music Tuesday #175: Goth some

Musically, I am attracted to the weird, the occult and the dark.  As a generally happy person I do have a darkside and a love for music with an edge.  Goth mixed with folk fiddle?  Count me in.  Come back next week for some light music maybe? Music Tuesday #174: Belgian history lesson

Jenghiz Khan was a Belgian band that released the heavy progressive rock album titled Well Cut back in 1971 and which is considered to be one of the lesser known essential progressive rock albums of that era.  Off course US and UK bands are way more popular and no one under 60 will probably know the band, but that doesn't mean that you can't find gems. Music Tuesday #173: Know thy self

It's been too long since I've been promoting my favorite band.  The song I am presenting you today is a perfect example of the fantastic band called NomeansNo.  Look up some of the live shows on YouTube, you will not see a tighter band than those guys.  Humble, funny and maybe the smartest punkband in a long time, they are so refreshing to listen to after I discarded 40+ songs for this week's selection (yes, for every song I put on here, many have been listened to - at least I've given them a minute or so before chucking them).   NoMeansNo - I'm an Asshole https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c2LK9nNlRL8

Music Tuesday #172: Lovely Londoner

There is something about London and music.  The amount of new music I discovered in the last 2 years is staggering.  I can't keep up and I can't remember most of it after a few months: there isn't enough time to listen to all that fantastic music and keep it on rotation in my playlists.  The burden of overabundance.  What struck me recently was that a large portion of that music come from London.  What is going on there?  Is this similar to Seattle of the early 90s or Detroit's MoTown music scene in the 60s? Hindsight will tell us.  In the meantime enjoy this fresh new song from WILDES.  And yes, WILDES hails from London.  You were expecting that, weren't you?
