Music Tuesday #138: Summer break 2021 - Vale vale

The last post for the summer break. I return at the end of august.  Hopefully with a nice load of newly discovered music. We're doing stoner rock with a hint of grunge and hardcore.  The kind of mix that sounds way better than what I can describe.   Valle Galgo hail from Argentina.  South America loves heavy music, this confirms they can make it too.  The mix of genres makes it very palatable. More of this please!  Here's a full EP which will last through the summer. the start of the second song "No te escuchas" gives me strong Tool vibes but stays far enough from that path of doom  and keeps building on their own sound.  The EP will not have you headbanging all the time, there is too much sludge for that, but I nevertheless enjoyed this very much. Music Tuesday #137: Run for your lives

It's darn hot here.  Things don´t need to get too complicated when it is hot outside, hence this wonderful song by the Bridge City Sinners.  I just revisited the March 2020 YouTube post of their live video session.  Since then it has amassed over 2 million views.  That is no small feat for a bunch of banjos.   Picture this: the humid, suffocating heat of the bayou forces you to retreat in your rocking chair on the porch of your Louisiana swamp house.  Your friends start to play this song on their steelguitars, violins and banjos while you sip an ice cold beer. There, now click the link and be merry. Bridge City Sinners - Song of the Siren https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ldbA86MZIJ0

Music Tuesday #136: Not lousy

For some reason artists outperform themselves when doing these tiny desk concerts. Here again, the song is so much better in this version as compared to the originally released track.  Video and audio quality is top notch too.  NPR rocks. And Lous as well of course. Music Tuesday #135: Disko Kraze

In my never ending search for new music for my almost non-existing user base to enjoy I have found this in a dusty corner of the inter-webs.  I can imagine that this the kind of stuff Soulwax would take and craftily turn into a summer club hit.  I can't do that, so here's the original for you to show off in your poolside party playlist this summer. No need to thank me. T. Makacinas - Disko Muzika https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=__2JvctF76Y

Music Tuesday #134: Just a small misunderstanding

This week's song was triggered by listening to Regina Spektor's 2012 album "What We Saw from the Cheap Seats".  The song O Marcello takes two lines from the song I give you today.   Originally recorded by Nina Simone and probably best known in the more uptempo version of the The Animals in 1965. There is a disco version from 1984 which I can't remember but which came up when researching the backstory for today.  This a perfect song to start you Tuesday.  Pop it into Spotify and let the algorithm serve you a very nice morning playlist.
