Music Tuesday #112: Peaches Eggplant

Electro Glam Punk from way back in 2006!  There is nothing more to say.  Most of the lyrics and videos she makes are NSFW I guess.  Don't say I didn't warn you.   This is the last Music Tuesday for 2020.  Next one is for January 5th. Music Tuesday #111: King Kong song

The list of French bands or singers I listen to is quite short.  One band that stands out because of their latin alternative/ska punk/worldbeat music.  I like eclectic music and this is definitely the case here.  Out of this band you will know Oscar Tramor, of Manu Chao fame. The link to this band? Jello Biafra of the Dead Kennedys, who performed together with this band at the Earth Summit in Rio in 1992.  I knew if the Dead Kennedys in the early 90s just around the time when I started listening to Nomeansno, who have worked together with Jello Biafra too.  I can continue, all my favorite bands are connected:  Tool members are fans of Nomeansno, Rage Against the Machine singer Zack de la Rocha performed with Tool on a couple of occasions and Tool singer Maynard James Keenan sang on RATM's debut album... Today's song is only a good 1:56 long, the official video adds 20 odd seconds of nonsense to get to 2:30 runtime.   Mano Negra - King Kong Five https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s

Music Tuesday #110: Remaster Rants

I hope you know of the loudness war in music? That thing where music is produced for the lower common denominator of music reproduction:  cheap headsets and car stereos.   Also because the music industry thinks we buy more music if it sounds loud.  That is partially true, but it is also very tiring to listen to.  Dynamics in music (the difference in loudness throughout a song) makes you listen and allows to enjoy the music.   Imagine a movie which has nothing but explosions for 90 minutes...  that would be just too intense to enjoy.  Guess what, almost all popular music recorded since the late 90s has this issue. Now almost all old music you will find on Spotify are remastered versions. And guess what: it makes the old stuff less enjoyable.  Therefore I keep my old CDs and vinyl, because they contain dynamics which I can't enjoy with the streaming services.  I would love to get access to the high dynamic recordings, preferably through a Spotify setting which only offers those to m
