Watch out for this band.  Finally a new sound which made me stop doing whatever I was doing and listen.  This is interesting stuff.  I hear punk, post-punk flavored with sounds that remind me of Beck (Loser), a bass line that makes me long to put a Morphine record on and Cake (Race Car Ya-Yas) because of the the trumpets and the repetitive "speeding along" throwback to their "Fashion Nugget" heydays.  Some say you can hear the influence of Talking Heads in this song, I don't really. The worst part of getting older is being confronted with your heros from your youth, only to discover that time has been cruel to them. Off course, that's because I still feel young.  In my mind I don't age.  Only confrontation with pictures from way back or noticing thinning hair in the mirror shatters that illusion.  And now I can add watching recent shows of my favorite 80s and 90s bands to that list.  When the music makes me feel young, the musicians make me feel old. A couple of weeks ago I was at this festival where Shtevil opened.  4 minutes before the start of the show there were about 5 guys in front of the stage.  That changed quickly as Shtevil started playing.  People kept on showing up, ending in a better crowd than expected.  Needless to say I was impressed with the energy on stage, the quality of songs and the tight set these guys played.   Support upcoming bands, go and see those bands you don't know yet.
