Music Tuesday #041: Primus inter pares

The band which had there own genre in the old IDv3 list for mp3s is off course Primus.  By now the careful reader of this blog will have figured out that I like bass and rock with a jazz influence.  Primus fits the category with their lead bass player Les Claypool.  Also, as a Pataphysician, I relish a daily dose of aphorisms or absurdity: Why do brides wear virgin white?  Most do not deserve that right But to choose a color of their delight  would surely bring on the frowns How delightful! Primus - To defy the laws of tradition https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kU0WbFBMwzs O, if you do your research you will find that most fans know that Primus sucks.

Music Tuesday #040: Low Rock

Music Tuesday #023 tapped into my Lo Fi past, this week's post is about a band which was popular in Europe at the same time.  Morphine was an alternative rock group which they described as Low Rock because of the minimalist, low-end, sound.  They combine rock with blues and jazz influences into a unique sound where the sound of the baritone sax plays a big role.  The history of the band with a tragic end was the theme of a fantastic documentary which I really recommend for those into music documentaries (Morphine: Journey of Dreams - 2014).  https://www.imdb.com/title/tt3743374/ Trailer:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VP8GveAL0ZA One of the most iconic songs to introduce you to Morphine is definitely "Radar".  Enjoy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wbhc9GhHjZ4

Music Tuesday #039: Girl Power

I just discovered L7 is still making music.  They are part of the defining sound of rock of the early 90s and keep listening.  Can't wait for the next party where this comes on.  Be warned! L7 - Pretend We're Dead https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NAdlZ2F-fs8 So they came back to... L7 - I came Back To Bitch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tn-WeNvuGCE A band that always comes up when I think about girl punk rock bands is Babes in Toyland.  I remember seeing them at the Dour festival in 1994.  They had the same attitude minus the catchy tunes of L7 who were more mainstream I guess... My graduation project to become 'pataphysician

I have been interested in 'pataphysics* for quite a while and after whimsical consideration and proper procrastination to allow a proper maturing of the concepts I hereby enrich the existing body of 'pataphysical discoveries: A device to allow a person to experience the dreams of another person. The dreams delivered from one person to another will be promptly forgotten upon waking up.  For this machine to work a third person is required, though not necessarily present, who needs to dream up the dream communication component which transfers the dream from D to C.  It is essential to dream the component in the metaphysical nexus of dream states. Because dreams exist outside of our universe it is not required for all three persons to sleep at the same time.     A - Dream chair      B - Azimut adjustment      C - Theta, alpha and mu wave neural oscillator      D - Captivator (neural dream catcher net)      E - Bed * Definition of 'Pataphysics:  the science

Music Tuesday #038: Way better than screaming babies

Back to rock.  I've kind of trailed of in the last weeks with musical escapades to genres I usually do not listen to. This one is very good.  So good and unknown that I wonder how much more lies undiscovered in the vast web of inter-tubes?  Anyway, you might think that there's nothing unique in this album.  You'll probably be correct, but this is just so well performed that I cannot help but like it!  I hear so many influences that I won't list them because it would be meaningless.  Just enjoy.
