Music Tuesday #236: Not Brasil ´66

Jazz, afro-cuban notes, sighs and spirits lift you away on a trip to a place where there is no room for anything but joy.  If there has ever been a track that contains everything, then this is it.  This sounds like the sixties but with a perfect production and a piano that is too modern.  This puts you firmly on the astral plane if you use the right chemical substances.  And with that I meant a good whiskey.  I have a 16 year old Balvenie Triple Cask malt just for this occasion. Music Tuesday #235: And now for something completely different

Last few posts have been very dark.  I am recovering.  Although this is Electro Noir music, we're getting closer to the pop/disco spectrum of music.  Here's a great singer and DJ. Dancing is allowed. The name of the band sounds like a very adult type of entertainer though.  That's part of all the mysticism of underground band names I assume. Music Tuesday #234: Long live the Marquis

Welcome to the dark universe of Dillon Steele.  Hidden in the shadows of the internet this music is best consumed in a pitch dark room, which is slightly too cold.  This EP might be a soundtrack to a horror movie. I rather like to think that in the dark your mind will deliver more than a movie could. Don't say I didn't warn you. Still, fear can also be an emotion induced by music.  Open yourself to it.  And then listen to another favorite of mine: Elend, their release Sunwar the Dead is especially creepy. Music Tuesday #233: Overcome with emotion

Shoegaze is back, just like Post-Punk and New Wave.  This is the moment to discover a band that covers all this and more with their wide spectrum of influences they show in their music.  Their self-titled album is just that and more. Where did these Italians come from?  Infinitely more interesting than the most recent Italian Eurosong winners, I was amazed by their sound and the singer. What a nice timbre to go with those eery guitar sounds.  The song I've chosen leans into Darkwave.  But their album is quite diverse, from classic New Wave over Gothic to Alternative Rock.  Definitely something to delve into if you year for the sounds of the 80s and early 90s.
