Music Tuesday #202: The kids are alright

Power to the next generation.  Do things better, throw out what doesn't work and try something new. Don´t worry if it has already been done.  Only 2 things count: are you having fun doing it? And do we believe in what you're doing? This week my answer is a resounding YES!  Lots of fun and I must say, I was hooked as soon as I heard these lyrics: I'm at the MOMA I'm in a painting You pay to get in Got my diploma In caffeinating And overdressing Kid Sistr - X-Tape https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GW0uLIMXjFM

Music Tuesday #201: Rediscovery

When you are looking for new music on a weekly basis you tend to forget to enjoy that what you already have been a fan of. I totally forgot about K.Flay.  Haven't listened to her music for a couple of years.  Now that I am alphabetically re-listening to my CD collection (currently at the B - Brahms is lined up, with the The Breeders following shortly) I noticed my copy of her 2017 album 'Every Where is Some Where'.  Gave it a spin and was looking for 'Blood In The Cut' (see Music Tuesday #015) but actually listened properly to the lyrics of her most popular song on Spotify and got blown away.   Maybe something for y'all to (re-)discover too? Isn't that what we really look for in music: musicians we believe when they perform, songs that touch us.  That is why good music i

Music Tuesday #199: Cups and plates

I heard this song for the first time while driving. By the 30 second mark we all had big smiles because of the lyrics.  The lyrics are in West-Flemish, so good luck trying to understand them if you are not from this part of Flanders.  This is fine example of brand new Belgian New Wave with a sound going back to early 80s TC Matic. Of course I can't help but coming back to this song as I have been listening to 80s New Wave more and more in the last couple of years. Music Tuesday #198: I'm psyched

Psychonaut, yes I know another one, is a progressive metal band from Belgium which brings a song that is both dense and vast, with deceptively simple and engaging melodies broken up by complex rhythm drums and distorted screams.  All that I mean in the nicest possible way.  This song features members from Amenra and Brutus as well.  I might as well kickstart 2024 with this, so here it goes: PSYCHONAUT - Violate Consensus Reality https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sgcLhQ0QVDU
