Music Tuesday #227: A really bad idea

Out of the blue I hear a pop song with a cool melody.  There are so many mediocre songs nowadays that it is hardly worthwhile to check out the most played songs on streaming platforms.  This one is an exception.  Now correct me if I'm wrong, but listening and following this artist is going to be a good idea. Music Tuesday #226: Breaking down some walls

Thanks to Instagram I do discover music way outside of my normal comfort zone.  This week's song is by a gifted songr writer hailing from Brooklyn, NY.  The songs I can find on Spotify are all very short, under 3 minutes. Music today doesn't need long intro sections, they just start.  Rather refreshing I must say. The melody is nice, voice timbre is fantastic.  The lyrics seem about sefl-realization, breaking free from norms in our society.  Fundamentally a very punk concept. Music Tuesday #225: The three stately colors

De Staat is one of the most intriguing bands of the last decennia.  They are unconventional, they have a punk attitude.  Because they grew up with electronic music that's what they produce. But it sounds heavy, the lyrics are worth listening to. So this doesn't feel like electronic music but rather rock music.  Maybe because guitars are in drop D tuned? Their lastest album features 3 colors: red, yellow and blue.  And those colors dictate the style of songs: red for aggressive rock tracks, yellow for funky dance tracks and  blue for big-scale melodic rock songs. Hence the album has 3 discs, one for each color.   There is always a song that should match your mood. Can you guess the color? Music Tuesday #224: I'm really torn!

Welcome back to Music Tuesday season 7.  We're starting of with a band you will not find on Spotify.  The season starts with some complicated progressive metal.  So hold, strap yourself to your seat and put this song on repeat a couple of times.  Then go listen to the full album and let me know what you think.  I certainly needed a couple of sessions to discover the full depth of this album, but I find it worth it.  Let me know what you think.
