Music Tuesday #078: I learned it from a book

This week's Music Tuesday title is a reference to Fawlty Towers and to this band I've discovered end of last year.   I am probably late to the party, I know.  Didn't think of it much at first, but hell they have some catchy songs I keep coming back to.  This is a nice example of what the band is all about: they're a bit much.  There's enough in today's song to spread over 4 songs.   I am not a speed metal fan so I don't particularly like those aspects, but the singer's voice makes it all worthwhile.  Jinjer - I speak Astronomy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KJoPIgg17U4  If you want to know what the vocal range is of the singer, then check this one out: Jinjer - Pisces https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQNtGoM3FVU

Music Tuesday #077: (s)low fi anyone?

This week I feature two songs discovered on the same night a few weeks back. For the first one I have to thank K.Flay who posted it on her Instagram, liked by Tom Morello.  This caught my attention, the song is carried by the voice of the female singer juxtaposed with de-tuned guitars.  Quire nice.  I don't know if it will make my heavy rotation list yet, sometimes songs need to grow on you. Sorry - Startstruck https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=emLHWsmYue0 Is low fi back?  In this case there's a touch of Punk added and a sprinkle of ...stoner rock (?) on top.  I hear Pixies in this one too.  The interesting changes in tempo made me listen twice to this song.  The music is quite layered, but the sound is exciting!  This is stuff which makes you young again.  Music lovers cannot but fall in love with this. Music Tuesday #076: Very Noise

This new song by Igorrr gave me the WTF experience of 2020.  I am quite sure of it.  This is taking music to the extreme and adding some mind-bending visuals to it.  Just the way we like it.  Igorrr is taking atristic liberty to the extreme.  Not all music must be enjoyable, some might be about finding how far you can take things.  Not many will like this, but that's not the purpose. Wear seat belts before you click on the link. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Osqf4oIK0E8 Igorrr was featured previously in #044 and mentioned in #045.

Music Tuesday #075: Tank Tactics

Jazz, one of the music styles where knowledge helps to understand it.  Which, as some would say,  makes it hard to enjoy.  I like jazz even without the required knowledge to fully appreciate it.  A good ten years ago I discovered an adjacent music genre which is even more difficult to get into, which for me is as attractive as a puzzle: I have to solve it.  So this time I bring you Panzerballett,  The best way to introduce them is through a rendition of the well known jazz standard Take Five by the Dave Brubeck quartet. To remind you, the original: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PHdU5sHigYQ And this is what a jazz metal band makes of it. Panzerballett - Take Five https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jM4W3qaNfng Jazz-metal sits between those two worlds, almost adjacent to Djent, and is very much a fringe genre in the progressive metal world.  I like weird, so bring it on!
