Music Tuesday #074: Under Cover Episode 7 - Soft Cover

The party song of my youth is a cover! And I only realized a short while go.  A good time to listen to the original.  And please, let me know which version you like best! Soft Cell - Tainted Love https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XZVpR3Pk-r8 The original is by Gloria Jones (1964), a powerful song for that era! Music Tuesday #073: Eclectic Electric episode 1 - Never a doll moment

After more than 70 episodes of Music Tuesday I felt that it would be good to delve into my limited experience with electronic music.  I have never been a big fan of dance music, hence my limited knowledge and exposure to it. The music this week sits at the edge between pop, folk and electronic music. I thought we might as well gently ease into the topic with this one. Back in 2006 an album caught my attention while browsing the local library in search of new music.  I think it was the name of the band which made me grab the CD out of the bin: Dollboy.  This week's song is from that album called "Casual Nudism".  You can still get it through bandcamp ( https://dollboy.bandcamp.com/album/casual-nudism ). This is music which I use as backdrop to a reading session with a glass of single malt next to me.  Although I must confess, I haven't listened to this album for a quite a while now.  That's because I don't have time to sit down and read in the evenings any

Music Tuesday #072: Under cover episode 6 - Blue

This week we're tapping into the rich world of covers again, this time a song you might not have heard in its original version by The Who (1977) if you're younger than 30. Behind Blue Eyes has seen quite some covers.  Which one do you like best? Music Tuesday #071: O Dolly

There is a fantastic documentary on Dolly Parton which was released a couple of weeks ago in the UK.  I've had the pleasure to see it and as with more music documentaries, just knowing how songs were written and why suddenly makes you appreciate music in a new way. Turns out that Parton is quite a prolific writer and that her lesser known songs deserve to be listened to. Watch the documentary if you have a chance:  https://www.imdb.com/title/tt11497544/ Dolly Parton - The Bridge https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hUsA9_XC46k
