Music Tuesday #297: Come on, linger on
We all know those "audiophile favorites", the tracks people use more to flex their gear than to actually enjoy the music. The German Audio magazine even used to pack a CD every month filled with exactly that kind of sonic bravado. But occasionally, a song comes along that manages to do both: it sounds incredible and actually has a soul.
You might recognize Elliott Skinner; he’s a producer, a multi-instrumentalist, and has held down the low end as the bassist for Leon Bridges on tour. This song is a masterclass in intimacy. With layered arrangements and "close-mic" vocals delivered in a near-whisper, it feels less like a performance and more like a private confession. Keep an eye on this guy, he’s going places.
