Music Tuesday #252: The absence of thrash is not a bad thing


The best ballads come from metal bands.  That's a given.  Now and then, a metal band re-invents itself and does something that is bigger than the genre reviewers like to box them in.  No boxes on Music Tuesday.  Somehow I find this more impressive than Disturbed's Sound of Silence, which I heard at a live concert in 2016 for the first time.  I somehow didn't get into that.  While this song touches the right nerves with me.
No idea why though.

In case you wonder too what Sylosis could mean?  I looked it up.  Apparently it has no meaning.  There, now have a listen.

Do you know them?  They have been a band from Brussels since 1983.  And just like Brussels who gets its character by being squeezed between the Flemish, Walloon and European expat forces, these guys have been molded by many musical trends and influences.  As a result, think blues meets heavy-metal, with some synth thrown for good measure.  This is not for the fainthearted. Music Tuesday #218: Dead Bob says punk is alive

Dead Bob is John Wright, of NomeansNo/Hanson Brothers/Mr Wright & Mr Wrong/Show Business Giants/Compressorhead/DOA/Ford Pier/Godzballs fame.  I was so looking forward to this album.  And finally here it is.  And now I have to choose a song which should trigger you to listen to the Nomeansno back catalog, of which only a tiny portion can be found on Spotify. Youtube will be your friend for this music.
