Music Tuesday #105: Get Down
I've got huge blindspots in many music styles and I just cannot figure out why I didn't notice this band earlier. With lead singer Phil Anselmo, of Pantera fame, you may wonder how I could miss this band at all... Anyway, I discovered today's song while listening to a new metal show on Willy Radio presented by Andries Beckers. Andries is a well-known guitarist in bands like Born From Pain (hardcore) and Diablo Blvd (metal-hard rock). His show has allowed me to make some discoveries. It has also confirmed that the majority of metal music doesn't really connect with me.
So from a recent show, here's the band Down. They released their debut album "NOLA" way back in 1995 when grunge was already dying. They introduced an exciting mix of genres I like a lot: some hardcore punk, southern rock, stoner rock and grunge.
This songs last 20 seconds or so are so epic that you just have to put this song on repeat. And then it becomes just better and better.
