Music Tuesday #049: Faith Fever

Axel Peleman doesn't mention it often, but he's been the lead singer/bass player for the Belgian band Ashbury Faith in the early nineties.  His insatiable thirst for at least two out of the music big three (sex, drugs and rock 'n roll) became almost his undoing.  Look it up to find out more.  Nevertheless this band made fantastic music and their live performance was absolutely amazing.   This time no videos where you may spot me, but one of the few songs I could find on YouTube.  I've got two albums on CD at home somewhere, they must be getting pretty rare if you can't find all music online.
Since then Axel Peleman has played in many bands like Camden, Automatic Buffalo (with Luc De Vos), The Paranoiacs and de Kreuners.  He also sings in his native Antwerp dialect.

Do you know them?  They have been a band from Brussels since 1983.  And just like Brussels who gets its character by being squeezed between the Flemish, Walloon and European expat forces, these guys have been molded by many musical trends and influences.  As a result, think blues meets heavy-metal, with some synth thrown for good measure.  This is not for the fainthearted. Music Tuesday #176: Success is a fleeting moment

This week marks the 4th year that this blog has been running.  Countless times I have almost given up, the stress of coming up with new songs and writing something about it is not a mere trifle. This week I was thinking about bands that missed their opportunity to become hugely successful, not that you must pursue this of course.  But sometimes bands disappear from the scene just before they will make it.  And that's a pity. The band I present to you split just when their breakthrough was imminent.  Maybe, in true punk style, they didn't want success?  I don't blame them.  Ultimately everyone should be allowed to make that choice.  Success is not a guarantee for happiness I guess.
